Aren’t we all sort of like that though? …I mean… I don’t believe that /everything/ we do is truly for ourselves (can’t remember who originally argued that, Nietzsche maybe?) but most people agree that we’re inherently self-centered beings.

Everyone is. Whether they admit it or not, everyone thinks about themselves first to some degree.
All good points. I don’t think it’s a horrible thing either, just, you know, it hit me. Protagonist in my own life, centre of my own universe, seeing things through my eyes, etc. etc.
Sometimes it would be nice to just be instead of having to be someone, you know? Ah well, I’m the only person I can be, I can guess. No one is me-er than me. (Please don’t sue me Dr. Seuss.)
